There are a whole host of additional workflow and productivity improvements, and Nuendo now natively supports Apple’s M-series processors. Also new, is Verve, Steinberg’s new felt piano, which has been recorded at the Yamaha Studios in Los Angeles. Musicians and sound designers have not been left out, with the addition of a new FX Modulator plug-in, a Raiser dynamics processing tool, and a Lin One dithering plug-in from MAAT, Inc. The Nuendo Renderer for Dolby Atmos now offers a binaural downmix function, allowing users to work on Atmos mixes in headphones where necessary. A new Headphone Match plug-in compensates and/or emulates the frequency response of 387 different headphone models from a wide range of manufacturers. Immersive audio capabilities have been expanded, with the inclusion of new tools focused on binaural mixing.
Also new is import and export support for Netflix TTAL for those working on language dubbing projects. Users are now able to create ADR markers automatically by selecting one or more audio events, and functionality has been added to integrate external taker systems and dialogue script editors with Nuendo’s own marker system. Nuendo’s ADR system has also received an overhaul. Steinberg have also added seamless integration with Auto-Align Post 2, simplifying the process of applying time-alignment to audio captured on location with moving microphones. An AI-powered Dialogue Detection algorithm detects speech and removes silent parts and unwanted noise from recordings with a single keystroke, whilst a Free Warp tool allows subtle time correction of dialogue clips from within the Project window. This latest version focuses heavily on dialogue, with several new dedicated tools being introduced. Steinberg have announced the immediate release of Nuendo 12, their award-winning post‑production software.
